Trauma and Grief Seminar - Saturday, August 11

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Jesus said that in this world, we will have many troubles; if you are a follower of Christ, you know all too well the truth of those words. Christ's own life was marked by suffering, and contrary to what many popular false teachings would have us to believe, the Christian journey is not exempt from tragedy. Trauma and unprocessed grief are realities for everyone, even those of us who call on Christ for deliverance and salvation. He has graciously given us His Word, His Spirit, and His people to minister to us in times of great loss, confusion, death, and life's many tragedies. He also has lovingly provided us with those who have been properly equipped to minister professionally in the realms of trauma and grief, and to provide resources, healing, and special insight into our lives, and the dark places where we are hurting, grieving, and in need of both grace and guidance.

On Saturday, August 11, SOPC will be hosting a free workshop featuring Michele Neverdon, LPC, CCTP. Michele is the owner/operator of her own counseling practice called The Hope Connection and regularly conducts psycho-educational workshops for adults and adolescents on the subject of trauma. During this special workshop, Michele will walk us through what exactly trauma is, where it comes from, how we can get help, and ways we can begin to both confront and engage it in a healthy manner.

This critical workshop is free to all and includes lunch and childcare. We also encourage you to invite your friends, co-workers, and neighbors to participate in this much-needed event. We hope to see you there!
